Solar Eclipse Friday 20th March 9:30am

Dear Parent/Guardian

A partial solar eclipse will be visible from school on Friday between 8.30 and 10.30 with a maximum 90% of the sun covered by the moon at about 9.30am. We have been given enough solar eclipse glasses through which the eclipse can be safely viewed for each child at school. This generous donation has been made by a charity set up in memory of George Higginson.

For more information about George, please see:

The charity, The George Telescope fund was set up in memory of George. He was a keen astronomer and the charity is aiming to raise money to build an observatory to house a telescope for public use in Williamson’s Park in his memory.

If you would like to donate to this charity, please put donations in an envelope and ask for it to be handed in at the school office, with “The George Telescope Fund” on the envelope. Alternatively you can donate at
