Diamond class were very excited when our incubated eggs began to hatch this week. Meet three of our four newest additions. The children had a very special visitor at the beginning of the week, a three day old lamb the children named George! We would like to say a big thank you to Mr Gorst for bringing George to visit us!

Year 4 have been out and about in Brookhouse, quizzing more clergy this week when they bombarded Rev Roy from Brookhouse Methodist Church with some challenging questions (he even had to use google at one stage!) The children are working hard on telling the time in Maths and working on converting minutes, hours and days. In English, they are debating whether schools should have a well-being dog. They gave lots of different arguments before the majority of them decided that a class dog would be a great idea!
Year 5 have been busy in maths this week; learning about regular and irregular shapes and they have been drawing a range of nets to make 3D shapes. In English, they have planned and started to write their own sci-fi story - well done.
Topaz have been learning about the purpose of stained glass windows. We all designed our own telling the stories of our lives and what we wanted to be in the future. It was lovely to see all the children’s aspirations.
Following on with our nature theme, this week Wrap Around Care have been doing birds nest crafts. Even the staff took part!
We have also cleared two of the raised beds in the infant playground and have a couple more to do before planting some wild flower seeds next week.
What a difference it makes having some lovely sunshine🌞
To enable our Year 6 children to take part in the Lune Valley Cricket Tournament on Friday morning we have arranged for Year 6 to have a post SATs ‘chill out’ afternoon tomorrow (Thursday). Snacks will be provided but children may bring their favourite food too. We will be watching ‘A Dog’s Purpose’. This film is a PG. permission will be presumed unless you contact the office by 12 noon tomorrow.
Ruby class had a wonderful start to their road safety training today.
Emerald class have had a busy week. We have been enjoying our new interactive white board (thankyou Mr Prescott). We’ve been looking at how chocolate is made & marketed, & presenting some of our own ideas. In maths we have been learning about perpendicular & parallel lines... And reminding ourselves of horizontal & vertical - sorting them into Carroll diagrams. We’ve also enjoyed PE outside in the sun. A great few days.
