Christian Ethos

our christian ethos

Caton St Paul’s C of E Primary School

Our distinctive Christian vision is represented by our mission statement:

‘’One family, belonging, believing and learning together’’.

We belong to a school that children and staff feel proud to be part of; where there is mutual support amongst families and the wider community, and where everyone feels valued.

We believe that God’s love is central to all that we do; that with His love, we grow in faith. We love and respect one another and we take care of the world in which we live.

We learn together in an inspiring and secure environment, where our children’s unique skills and abilities are recognised and nurtured, preparing them for life’s challenges and opportunities.

This distinctive vision is rooted in the Bible verse, Romans 12:5 “So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”

At Caton St Paul’s Church of England Primary School, we open the door to faith. Our Christian faith is like a warm fire that is nurtured by children, staff and our community. We invite children to come through the door and sit by the fire: some are really keen and sit right next to the fire, others are able to just watch, observe and learn and can make their decisions about faith later in life. Children and families are able to own their own faith and talk about this in sn open way.

Ethos group

Our Y6 ethos group are delegated to lead our Christian ethos and values throughout school. They meet with HT once a half-term to discuss how this can be done. So far in 2023-24, they have: led worship, taught RE in Reception class,  organised fundraisers, contributed to the values display, helped staff with their prayer tables, collected bottle tops to help reduce plastic waste and much more.

Awe and wonder

Our children love to be inspired by God’s great earth: each class takes part in forest school sessions every half-term. Look how excited our Y1 children were to find ice!!

Thursday Thought

Every Thursday, we post a thought, passage or verse from the Bible. This week’s is shared by a teacher, Miss Heap…

✝️Thursday thought for today:
“My God is my strength in whom I trust.” Psalm 18:2
Our Christian value is ‘Trust’ this half-term. Miss Heap says this verse helps her to be more confident – it makes her think about how God is with her and that she can tackle all challenges with Him. ✝️
Please see our school Facebook page to see how our distinctive Christian vision enables our children to flourish at Caton St Paul’s.
Flourishing
As part of our distinctive Christian vision, it is important that our children flourish in school. We see every child as unique and nurture their talents, whatever they may be. These photos give you an example of how our staff go the extra mile to ensure our children flourish at our school.
