Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to our school website and indeed our school, Caton St. Paul`s Church of England Primary School. Our school is situated in the beautiful Lune Valley, within the village of Brookhouse, approx 5 miles east of Lancaster. This year, for September 2019 we have 175 children on roll, aged 4 to 11.

The school prides itself on its caring, Christian atmosphere, where children are encouraged to love learning and achieve their goals. Children joining Caton St.Paul’s will grow together in a school that sets high standards and expectations for all its stakeholders. We aim to provide an environment, in which you and your family will feel confident and where your children will flourish. The latest Diocesan Inspection of December 2016 said : `The sustained, outstanding achievement of all children is underpinned and nurtured by the transformative Christian ethos of the school`.  `Pupils comment that, ‘school is always changing for the better and we are all part of God’s family here’.  Parents are enthusiastic about the ‘impassioned and caring teachers who bring the children on`.

Our dedicated and professional staff team promote self confidence, self assurance and self discipline, but take care to couple this with excellent teaching, continuous monitoring of progress and consultation between children, teachers and parents. This is why our school has a well-earned reputation for fulfilling the potential of all of our children to the full.

The Ofsted inspection of April 2017 noted : `The warm and friendly family ethos is a strong and distinguishable characteristic of the school’s culture`.  In addition the Inspector also commented that : `The introduction of a more creative curriculum clearly excites and inspires pupils. Pupils told me that they never get bored in school and spoke enthusiastically about their work`.  `The high profile given to physical education and sport is appreciated by many pupils and it promotes their physical and mental well being very effectively. Pupils of all ages relish the regular opportunities to learn outdoors`.  `The high expectations you have set for pupils’ behaviour are well met. In lessons and around the school pupils behave extremely well`.  Achievement information at all Key Stages remains above National and Lancashire averages.

The desire of all Staff and Governors is to continue developing the most creative and exciting school that we can, so that all children are inspired to learn and develop a wide range of skills that will equip them for life after Primary School!
